My Art  & Me

I am now painting under my maiden name of Heatlie as homage to my roots and to my dad.

I have always been inspired by light and the luminosity of colour, the deep-founded emotional connection to that moment when light and colour come together to create something profoundly beautiful.  I constantly strive to capture these moments and emotions on canvas.

My preference is to work on location as much as possible with my medium of choice being either oils or acrylics (although my sketchbooks are filled with pen and ink reference drawings).  My husband and I, together with our 4  fluffies, have made our home tucked in between the Southern Alps and Pacific ocean, Canterbury New Zealand. We are surrounded by stunning scenery and skies, a never-ending source of painting inspiration.

I have an Honours Diploma in Arts and Creativity, I am a founding member of the Geraldine Performance and Arts Academy and a qualified Golden Artists Programme Educator. I exhibit throughout New Zealand, I teach art workshops and classes privately and for various organisations.
